A Doomsday Scenario of Epic Proportions
If you’ve spent significant time on social media lately, you’ve heard the rumblings of a lights out situation that could affect the US and other countries around the world.
News outlets like Newsweek and Fox News have reported on a plan called FORTRESS that is intended to prepare military personnel for 90 days without access to civilian infrastructure. Troops must fortify their inventory stores to include food, water and batteries.
Other countries around the world are preparing their citizens for three days of no food, water or electricity, namely France, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, and Mexico.
Of course, numerous influencers have been parroting these reports with their own terrifying bent, no doubt to rile people up while collecting a multitude of clicks.
Because the dire warnings have been so numerous from news outlets and influencers alike, it seemed fitting to make this the subject of my latest Flash Fright.
Blackout - A Story of a Father Protecting His Family
The latest Flash Fright titled Blackout was published on October 30, the day before Halloween, and it’s one of the darkest ones I’ve written yet. For those who aren’t familiar with my weekly horror series, these are micro–horror stories written by my hand (No AI) that measure around 1600 characters or less, or 300 words or less.
In this installment, the lights have been out for three days, then the cell phones died. Cut off from the rest of civilization, the family hears a banging at the door. That’s when all hell breaks loose.
Without giving away the ending, this is one of those horror stories that forces the reader to use their imagination as to the intentions of this protective father. Is he sane and doing what’s necessary to keep his loved ones safe? Or has the father snapped, and is he acting from psychosis rather than from the purity of his heart?
